Presentation at CU-Boulder

Dr. Adam Schwalje MD, DMA and I presented on April 19, 2018 for students at the University of Colorado at Boulder College of Music Woodwind Studio Class. Our topic was “Whats’ Going On in There? How the science of movement of the head and neck can impact wind instrument teaching.” This was a repreise of our 2017 National Flute Association lecture presentation, which explores the anatomy of the head and neck and how insights from medicine, recent scientific research and borrowing from vocal pedagogy can inprove playing and teaching.

Highlights were getting to speak in the newly renovated Grusin Music Hall’s better acoustic, and fielding fantastic questions from the students on hearing protection, overuse, and prevention approaches.
